Paul Nabor

The most well-known Parandero in the country, Paul Nabor has been singing traditional Paranda music for over 50 years. He is now one of the few remaining Paranderos and is working with younger musicians to keep the tradition alive. He is also a buyae, a traditional healer at the Garifuna temple which is located next to his house. While he may seem shy and quiet when you speak with him, he becomes transformed on stage and the crowd goes wild over this little old man!

Mr. Cruz has a passion for the Maya and specializes in depicting the Maya culture, flora and fauna. He loves murals and his work can be seen at the Cahal Pech Visitor Center, on the side of some large tour buses and other locations. His work was featured in the "2004 Celebrate Caribbean Artists Calendar" put together by Colonial Life Insurance Company.
 

Pen Cayetano

Pen is known as the "father of Punta Rock" and can be heard jamming on his guitar with his band during the November 19th celebrations. He is also an accomplished artist (now residing in Germany). Each year he sets up a show as a part of the Garifuna Settlement Day celebrations.
