Tipple Tree Beya

Hopkins Village, Stann Creek

Hotel Description
At Tipple Tree Beya you can immerse yourself in the culture of Belize at a price you can afford. This friendly hotel is located on a lovely beach with shady palms. It has three rooms which are constructed from beautiful hardwoods and which all share a shaded veranda with hammocks. A private cabin--in Belizean style--is raised on posts with hammocks and a picnic table underneath. It is surrounded by orchids and fruit trees. Accommodations have hot showers, fans, coffee makers, and refrigerators. All the units are well-ventilated, screened, clean, and furnished in simple comfort.

Tipple Tree has maid service from Monday to Saturday. As part of Tipple Tree Beya?s ongoing commitment to protecting our environment linens and towels are changed every two nights of your stay. By doing this water is saved, less energy is used, and fewer detergents are added to the environment. The hotel is a member of BETA (Belize Eco-Tourism Association).

Located in the Garifuna fishing village of Hopkins, Tipple Tree Beya gives you easy access to kayaking, snorkeling, diving the Barrier Reef, jungle treks, Mayan ruins, and many other activities.

History & Owners
Tricia is British by birth, but naturalized Belizean by choice. She has owned and managed Tipple Tree Beya since 1998. The name ?Tipple Tree Beya? encompasses a little of Tricia?s own culture with a little of the Garifuna culture of the village which is now her home. ?Tipple? is an English word meaning to drink small quantities of intoxicating liquor. (Anyone for a Belikin beer?!) The ?Tipple Tree? is the Sea Grape tree in front of the hotel which produces a grape that is made into wine. ?Beya? is the Garifuna word meaning ?beach?.
